Arizona Professional Writers Offers Workshop for Aspiring Self-Publishers
Arizona Professional Writers is offering “What’s New in Self-Publishing,” a two-hour workshop for writers to hear from the experts and gain useful tips about this emerging publishing genre. The workshop will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Shepherd of the Hills United Church of Christ, 5524 E. Lafayette Ave., Phoenix, Arizona. Registration with breakfast pastries and coffee starts at 9:30 a.m.
“What’s New in Self-Publishing” will feature a panel of industry experts, beginning with Linda F. Radke, president and founder of Five Star Publications, Inc., and author of The Economical Guide to Self-Publishing and Linda F. Radke’s Promote Like a Pro, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the traditional, partnership and self-publishing arenas and serves as a publishing consultant.
- Connie Cockrell, a self-published author of 13 books who has been included in five anthologies and EverydayFiction.com after her daughter challenged her to write in 2011.
- Linda Smock, a retired elementary school teacher and children’s author who has self-published seven picture books on CreateSpace and Kindle in the last year. The books feature characters based on animals in her household and neighborhood.
- Brenda Warneka, an editor and writer, who has edited a variety of books, including the APW anthology “Skirting Traditions: Arizona Writers and Journalists, 1912-2012.”
Following the workshop, attendees are invited to meet for a no-host lunch at Kitchen 56, 3433 N. 56th St., Phoenix, Arizona.
Barbara Lacy, Phoenix Central District Director, states, “For over 50 years Arizona Professional Writers has offered writing workshops. Now we want to help emerging self-publishers achieve their goals.”
The workshop is free for members of Arizona Professional Writers and $10 for the public.
