First TypeRider of 2016!

Thanks to editor Lynda Exley, our January, 2016 issue – the first of 2016 – is here! Read about the December holiday parties and an intriguing article, “Do words, gemstones have anything in common?” by Marion E. Gold. Three APW districts are holding meetings this month so be sure to mark them on your calendar. You’ll find several APW members presenting elsewhere and many writing events to inspire you and add to your knowledge coming up this month and beyond. If you are considering participating in the 2nd Payson Book Festival, read more about it and act soon before all available author tables are gone! Information on the NFPW Communication Contest is also included.

Writers, readers and historians will enjoy this presentation as proprietor Shelly Dudley talks about the bookstore and their extensive collections, how readers expectations and interests have changed over the years and how she can find the research or reading you are searching for.

When: Thursday, October 15.  6 p.m. social time, 6:30 p.m. potluck – bring finger foods to share for dinner. Paper goods and beverages provided.

Oct. 15, 6 p.m. social time, 6:30 p.m. potluck dinner. APW Central District Program “The Wild West and More,” Guidon Books, Scottsdale.

Nov. 19, 10 a.m. Tour of the Arizona State Archives, Phoenix, followed by lunch at Phoenix Market.

Dec. 13, 2-6 p.m. APW Central District Holiday Potluck Buffet at Scottsdale Waterfront Condominiums, Scottsdale.

September, 2015 TypeRider

Another fine issue from editor Lynda Exley.  Read the September, 2015 TypeRider, chock full of good information. Meet our members who will be listed in the AZ Speaks directory and available to give talks to schools, Road Scholar program attendees and at other venues. We are honored to have five members participate.

In this issue, you’ll also meet also this year’s scholarship winner, Melina Casillas. There the guidelines for entering ONEBOOKAZ writing contest as well as how to participatie as an author in the Tucson Festival of Books next March. Colorado River District member, Liz Mastin, contributed “Joy of Prosody: Joy of Rhyming!” If you’re not familiar with prosody, you’ll want to read all about it. And, there’s more. August, 2015 TypeRider

The August, 2015 issue of the TypeRider is out! It’s 18 pages and full of photos from the first Payson Book Festival. The hard-working committee garnered all sorts of publicity resulting in an attendance of more than 500 people. Great turnout for a first-time event! See editor Lynda Exley’s attractive layout of photos contributed by several people and read the report.
