Betsy Batish scholarship awarded

The first Betsy Rose Memorial Scholarships were awarded at the a banquet on June 11 for the Arizona High School Rodeo Association. Betsy’s parents attended and her husband, Lt. Colonel Paul Batish (U.S. Air Force), presented the gifts. Both recipients plan to attend Arizona colleges or universities next year.
Betsy Rice Batish was a member of National Federation of Press Women, and won numerous writing awards from this organization between 2000 and 2014. She was an artist, photojournalist, Equestrian and Rodeo Queen and she can be remembered at www.betsyrose.org. She passed away September 2015 from cancer at the young age of 37.

APW State Conference announced
MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW TO ATTEND THE APW CONFERENCE IN SCOTTSDALE ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15
Plan to attend the 2016 APW State Conference on Saturday, October 15, at Scottsdale Camelback Resort, 6302 E. Camelback Road, Scottsdale. The APW State Board of Directors is planning an amazing professional development program titled “How to Thrive as a Writer, Not Just Survive.”
The educational portion of the program is from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public. It includes lunch. Watch the future issues of the APW newsletter for more details.

Author Jan Cleere to speak to Central District April 1, 2016
