Rim Country May 20 meeting

Becky Nissila

Becky Nissila

Rim Country District will have a special guest speaker for the meeting this month, scheduled for  May 20, at noon in the community room of the Payson Public Library.

Freelance writers have discovered a growing market for health and medical articles. Authors who write fiction, may have their characters grapple with illness or accidents that require emergency medical attention. All writers should find good research sources in order to  present accurate information about health and medical topics. We also  may need more information as consumers too.  How prepared are you for an unexpected trip to the ER?
“Debunking Medical Media Myths –What to Expect in the ER” is the topic of Becky Nissila, the new  Director of Emergency Services, Payson Regional Medical Center (PRMC). She has extensive experience with ER departments and other clinical operations in acute care hospitals. In addition to being an RN for 25 years, she earned a B.S. in Health Science as well as an MBA. She worked at PRMC previously and has recently returned to her Payson home after an assignment in the San Francisco Bay area. Nissila  will provide some medical research tips, an insiders view of emergency medicine and how patients can better navigate the medical system.
Feel free to bring guests.

Beginnings and endings – get it right!

It was a dark & stormy nightJoin the Rim District of Arizona Professional Writers for their monthly meeting on April 15. The topic is “Beginnings and Endings”….. two areas that challenge writers of fiction and non-fiction. Participants are invited to bring some samples of good ones and the group will then do some creative exercises. Both those who write novels and magazine articles will benefit.

Rim Country Literacy is having a book drive, so please bring a book to donate to this cause.  The meeting will be held at noon in the community room of the Payson Public Library.

We also will discuss the APW State Convention on May 2 in Scottsdale. Hope to see you at the April 15th meeting! Contact Carol Osman Brown, District Director at 928-468-9269 if you have questions.
